Kickass and Gut Punch Memories

Kickass, the doorstop dog, turns it over to the keeper on the cool, rainy morning of 9/20/26 with advice on dealing with the gut punches of memory that sometimes knock the wind out of innocent reminiscing.

Nobody goes through life without unpleasant experiences of their own making and those incidents tend to be like fungi on the big memory tree, somehow garnering more attention than they warrant and claiming valuable space on the “good time” remembering branches.

Life is a wonderful, very brief time of swinging on the branches of the big-time trees and if you don’t occasionally lose your grip you are not the swinger you could be.

With that in mind, it is the keeper’s advice to see any “downer” memory item as a positive indicator that you did indeed swing through the “time” tree of life with verve and even audacity, perhaps making an occasional dumb move that might now be an annoying negative memory were it not for your ability to see it as an indicator marking you as an enthusiastic life participant.

Phyllis advises the keeper that while his suggestion to make something positive out of unpleasant memory items may be flawed, she is willing to give it a try with him. The keeper will supply her with one of his regretful memory items as he seems to have so many of them.
