Kickass Rock and Roll Music

Kickass, the doorstop dog, protected the couch as the keeper and Phyllis boarded the Vista West bus as activities director Caitlin drove it to Fort Atkinson for an afternoon show at the Fireside Dinner Theater.

The feat of ticketing, feeding, seating and presenting a bang-bang rock and roll music show for about 600 people, many with mobility issues, is an amazing thing to witness and the keeper would suggest it as a model for future family holiday gatherings.

A couple of hours of in-your-face rock and roll music telling of its explosive history and endurance took audience members back to the days of shouting at their kids to “TURN IT DOWN!” and complaining that the audio storms could never be considered music in the same breath with love ballads or even country sad songs.

The professional cast at the Fireside did an outstanding job of informing their mostly aging audience members that “Rock and Roll” is here to stay and this is how it got there and this is what it sounds like!

The keeper and Phyllis agree it is good for them to step out of their routines more often, especially when it might mean recalling those family “musical” days when they shouted, ‘TURN IT DOWN!”
