Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper and Phyllis and their Easter dinner guests in a post ham-dinner stupor lingering over dessert and coffee exchanging childhood memories.
Some of those recited memories were old enough to have long beards and others from younger Easter eaters were as in-tune with the times as personal telephones.
A thread ran through many of them that the things you remember best all tend to include either your heroics, embarrassment, disappointment or bad judgement; like getting lost at the fair, wading in the ditch with grandma, blowing an umpire’s call, and on and on around the table with laughter and wonder.
The holiday of renewal and revival did its thing one more time as the Easter Bunny-laid colored eggs and pigs got up a petition that asked, “Why us?”
