Kickass, the doorstop dog, poses the keeper’s question of the day: Why DON’T people eat dogs and cats, as has been hinted at by our outrageous demented leaders.

It began with the keeper wondering how the dogs and cats came to make such self-serving evolutionary deals as they cozied up to the earliest human campfire while the pigs and chickens more or less ended up in ancient history’s big soup kettle?

Viewed from the scientific point of view, when the other critters began to snoop around the edges of the first caveman fires there was no way to know how the early contacts would play out. Certainly, the birds had no idea that their case would mean that as chickens, the evolving humans would not only inhibit bird reproduction by gathering and eating most of the bird eggs but then would also toss the chickens themselves into the fire and eat them too, even establishing them as a culinary standard: “Tastes like chicken!”.

The keeper’s investigation is currently focused on just how dogs and cats eliminated themselves as acceptable table fare as evolution set up the human menu choices.

It is only necessary to view the current status of cats and dogs living with humans to realize the extremes to which things have gone–decorated litter boxes and cute little poop bags and instant human response to every meow or yip.

How did the dogs and cats pull that off? The pigs and chickens want to know! So does the keeper. Maybe he will ask Phyllis. She knows about some weird stuff.
