Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper remembering the experience of a relative who, with his wife, was being shown a for-sale house when the realtor pointed to a door and identified it as a closet. Interested in seeing it all, my in-law intended to say, “Mind if I take a look?” or a peek” but it came out as a combination, “Mind if I take a leak.”
The mis-speak apparently put a whole new character to the house showing and did not lead to a sale. It did, however, lead to a story to be told at family get-to gathers for as long as there are such things.
Phyllis may not have heard this one, but she has now and with her word work with the keeper she understands how easily “look” and “peek” might turn into “leak.”
