Kickass, the doorstop dog, as a resident of the independent living part of Vista West on Madison’s west side where the keeper and Phyllis live, hears a lot of interesting comments which, fortunately, being a cast-iron dog, he is unable to repeat.
Recently, for example, his attention was attracted to the evolution of the “pick-up” line as it migrated out of the bars and lounges to the senior living facilities. Neither Kickass nor the keeper is claiming to have actually heard the following “pick-up” but they might have:
“Do I come here often?”
“If I fall for you will you help me get back up?”
“Nice walker. Is it your first?”
“I think we use the same podiatrist.”
“I would like to take my teeth out and bite you!”
“Do you enjoy riding the elevator?”
“Where were you living during WWII?”
Phyllis says that is enough examples but there are so many more: “Would you like to see me bend over and pick up a dropped pen?”
