Kickass, the doorstop dog, napped at home as the keeper and Phyllis joined the multitudes in paying allegiance to the remnant genes that define humans as creatures of the land as much as any other living thing.
This genetic signal of acknowledging nature has become convoluted to emerge on early spring weekends at garden centers and green houses as mobs of “farmer” descendants search for something to grow, like Phyllis’s tomato plants and Geraniums the next person’s pot of petunias or the young apple tree waving from the trunk of a departing electric car.
The great spring planting in all of its forms is particularly noteworthy in this time of arrogant ignorance at leadership levels that would sell all the spring flowers and showers to billionaire narcissistic boobs.
But the boobs too are part of the natural scheme of things and the day will come when the big money vultures will go hungry for a lack of victims to feed on.
Time for the keeper to watch Phyllis plant her tomatoes. Maybe he could hold the watering hose for her!
