Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper, has now lived for a day with the photo discovered by granddaughter Jessy showing him at a sanity hearing for Ed Gein at which Ed was the best dressed of all those in the courtroom, especially the press corp. The keeper is shown in a T-shirt and plaid pants and the scene elicited comment from former reporter George Hesselberg that reporters are notorious for ignoring style and trends and dressing like scarecrows.
As George might agree, in addition to an economic factor there is also the reporter mindset to throw on whatever is handy and rush off to get the story. That and a complete lack of style and color sense may or may not explain why the keeper once showed up at an important interview wearing dressy brown wingtip shoes with blue jeans, generating snide remarks from equally misadorned fellow reporters.
To her credit, Phyllis does not often comment critically on the keeper’s clothing choices, but he sometimes wonders what she is laughing about when he shows up in the kitchen for his morning kiss and coffee. Could it be his brown shirt with the black pants?
