Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper and Phyllis among the many attending the 100the birthday party of Pat who, as a fellow Vista West resident, told her assembled family and party guests about the importance of birthday parties.
The most recent birthday party prior to Pat’s for the keeper and Phyllis had been for the keeper’s four-year-old great granddaughter Blaize, which was held out by the river with an elementary-school age group dominating.
Comparing the two birthday parties is of course unavoidable—the degree of participants’ activity being the dominate distinction: young birthday part attendees do not ever sit still; older birthday party goers almost always sit still except to make a trip to the refreshment table.
But the distinctions pale compared to the common thread that sews all birthday parties together—the acknowledgement that “I am these many years old and happy to be here with family and friends.”
Happy Birthday Pat and Blaize and all the rest of the birthday party participants!
