Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins Phyllis in telling the keeper to stop feeling sorry for himself just because today is the day he checks in with the VA eye clinic in the routine of eye shots to ward off the progression of macular degeneration.
It is a treatment procedure that sounds much more painful than it really is—just a brief prick and then it is over, leaving a few hours of irritation, and that is it for a month or two.
Many of the keeper’s friends endure the treatment that was not available back when the keeper’s mother totally lost her eyesight due to Macular degeneration. Being the complete Mom and not wanting to waste anything, Mom passed on the affliction to her first born. Thanks, Mom.
Because he cannot drive after his eye shot, transportation home from the eye clinic for the keeper is provided through the veteran ride service of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program-RSVP, which is worthy of everyone’s support.
Tomorrow, the keeper has a dental appointment.
Phyllis tells him the week improves after that and maybe they could check out the daily treat at Culvers.
