Kickass, the doorstop dog assumes that along with the keeper and Phyllis, everyone watched the 60 Minutes feature on the benefits of studying dogs’ dementia to shed light on how it happens with humans.
Being at the age where his recliner could turn into an F-35 at any second, the TV feature was particularly relevant for the keeper who has gone through life resenting the fact that dogs have always had it better than he did, especially the ones he lived with.
Now, even as the curtain goes up on the final act, the dogs are out there hogging the stage with their easier-to-study shorter life spans, which demonstrates among other things that if you remember what bowl the treat is in you will hear lots of “Good Boys” from the doggy dementia researchers.
Depending on the mental turbulence his F-35 recliner runs into, the keeper remains confident that he will never forget which bowl Phyllis uses to serves him her very creative soup.
He doesn’t even expect a “Good Boy” from her. Just maybe an offer for a second helping as his recliner flight plan plays out.
