Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper and Phyllis in acknowledging that as the only meaningful function for every species is reproduction which includes lots of obligatory activities among them feeding the young until they are adept enough to feed themselves.

Thus, ingrained early as a vital activity, providing food for family members takes on dimensions that make it the centerpiece of ceremonial and everyday existence.

And one of the adjustments that occurs is that older adults feeding the young undergoes something of a reversal and young members bring food to the older adults.

It is a wonderful thing and goes on everywhere but especially in places like Vista West where a steady stream of food containers comes in through the front door carried by family members who have made or purchased food to be shared with grandma and grandpa.

Most recently it was Cindy with soup and bread, Mike with ribs and banana bread and Alexia providing eggs. It was all, of course, delicious, with the special flavoring being the personal deliveries.
