Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper and Phyllis in doing something special to mark the reading of the “State of The Union” in the legislative chambers tonight.

As suggested by Kickass himself, an arrangement will be made to treat the event in the mode of taking the dog for a walk and all those attending will be given plastic waste bags for later deposit in proper disposal sites.

Another advantage of treating the “State of….” event as a dog-walk is that brief obedience lessons can be inserted, such as showing Supreme Court members “sitting and staying” as their leash is rudely jerked when the members are subjected to the very personal canine technique for getting acquainted.

And since a dog walk can include a stop at the dog park where various liaisons can be made, it offers an advantage over a simple teleprompter reading and routine handshakes.

(A word of caution is offered for dog walkers to guard against that awkward and obviously unwanted post-coital hookup peculiar to the canine world. It has the potential of reaching epidemic proportions with the current personnel involved.)
