Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that he and the keeper and Phyllis wish everyone a very merry Christmas and the best of luck in the coming New Year.
And isn’t it “luck” that it all comes down to—good luck in dodging the bad ones and bad luck in getting smacked by them!
There are all kinds of fancy labels, edifices and rituals attached to that simple luck-of-the-draw circumstance. And while there is no real proof for any of these accouterments helping “chance” along, that does not deter millions from embracing variations of a story about a humble stable birth pointing to subsequent lives of decency and benevolence. There has since been a seasonal amalgamation of wise men and wise guys sorting through it with no end in sight.
