Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper and Phyllis adjusting to the slowly lengthening days by limiting their exposure to political tinged fast-talk and tuning in to gentle music accompanied by images of peaceful scenery.
Prior to making the change the keeper frequently found himself gnawing on a table leg as Epstein and Venezuela comments blared. Phyllis, always more restrained and creative, was wont to simply sass back at the tongue-clucking commentators and rally the Silver Badgers.
The brutal truth, of course, is that their media alteration is about as permanent as reindeer tracks on the roof, and before the holidays are out the keeper and Phyllis will be back watching and listening to the hard news to see just how far a dictatorial oaf can go before he and his narcissistic mob are put out for the trash collectors.
Relevance is in the knowing and the caring. The keeper and Phyllis’s “senior” crowd know that and the members want to be part of the necessary correction. The music and the pretty scenery can come later when there is more daylight.
