Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in viewing the onset of winter with more than the usual trepidation as he tries not to dwell on vague thoughts of an Eskimo culture that once floated its elderly and infirmed off on ice flows as a means of final determination.
With the advent of an official enforcement mob— “ICE”, the threat of ice flows for everyone is enhanced, except of course for those who thrive on decomposing blubber from a beached killer whale carcass.
There are occasions when Phyllis gets a bit nervous about the keeper’s analogies and this may be one of those times. His explanation is to point to a White House that is increasing doing business as a house of ill repute while the tide comes in with more disgusting ice flow opportunities.
(Once such a thought pattern is launched in the keeper’s brain he is helpless to stop or amend it. No apology is offered as he and the rest of the world now wait for the ice floes to melt away with the April showers. And they will!)
