Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper aware of the news item that UW researchers are growing hemp as part of a very serious plant-disease study, which reminds him of his days of reporting on UW activities back in the early days of the women’s lib movement:

A complaint surfaced that male UW employees were harassing women with rude noises as they walked a street down on the ag campus.

A simple investigation proved that the rude noises were being made by roosters in the poultry research barn.

The keeper would like to take credit for that investigation, especially when he tells Phyllis about it, but he can only claim that a series he wrote about the UW entitled “A Little Look at Our Intellectual Bean Patch” was subsequently used by UW president Fred Harvey Harrington as his annual communication with alumni.

In his series, the keeper described being UW president as “a better job than milking goats because the pay is higher and you don’t have to wear boots.”

If he were still on the job, the keeper might look into the rumor that disease-free weed is available from UW researchers.

Those were the days, my friend…
