Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper and Phyllis listening to Tom Jacobson’s book program in which he told a crowd of seniors at Quarry Ridge Retirement about his long illustrious Madison lawyer life of resisting on behalf of minorities and disadvantaged people of all kinds including Jeffery Dahmer victims’ families.
Part of a “Plato fireside chat,” this one with well-known Madison journalist Dave Zweifel, Tom’s focus in relating his many challenges to the status quo, was the critical nature of recognizing the “Underdog” which is the title of Tom’s book. The keeper related to Tom’s defense of Father Groppi, the Milwaukee Catholic priest who occupied the Assembly chambers when the keeper was a reporter on the scene to record such antics.
Stressing the current “underdog” nature of US citizens before a tyrannical office holder, Tom’s message was to “Resist! Resist! Resist!” and that’s the way he autographs his book.
That advice is appropriate for the celebration/protest resistance rally planned by the Silver Badgers for this Saturday at 3 pm at Gammon Road and Tree Lane.
“Resist! Resist! Resist!”
