Kickass, the doorstop dog, passes along word that a number of the keeper and Phyllis’s family members are up to their eyeballs in various home improvement and construction projects. And while none of them have sought the keeper’s advice he offers it here along with examples showing how important it is to keep things as natural as possible.
*Eagle—If you place a nice big stick in the new nest and your mate wants it repositioned get out of her way and let her put the stick exactly where she wants it.
*Badger—Dig a nice long burrow and crawl into it. Eventually your mate will follow to see what the heck you are doing down there.
*Robin—When you have chosen a nest location on an active construction site and your mate flies off to a maple tree, go with her. Bring mud.
*Fish—Swim upstream until you find the kind of bottom pebbles you know that she likes. Wait close by and she will eventually swim to you.
*Sparrow—In searching for used building material grab onto anything you can carry and then stuff it into an obscure location you mate can describe to others as “quaint.”
(If you are renting your home and decide to tear off the front porch, reference the behavior of a libido demented bull elk and proceed cautiously.)
