Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper and Phyllis missing and presumed lost somewhere in the Baraboo Bluffs. While getting lost on the twisting roads through the beautiful thick forests now just beginning their leafy color show was more or less their intention, neither one of them anticipated how it would actually happen.
The radio was tuned to Sunday afternoon PBS programming that dealt with the immensity of space and man’s insignificance and arrogance in thinking there is nobody out there who wants to talk to him.
Then in their unplanned meandering, the keeper and Phyllis realized they were on a road they had been on thirty minutes ago, and along with that the PBS radio program seemed to be repeating itself. As they drove past an insolated yard decorated with an assortment of Halloween ghosts and goblins, a strange sensation of unreality swept over the keeper and Phyllis and that is the last anything has been heard of them.
Later, however, there was a deep reverberating voice echoing out of the Baraboo Hills: “This is Spacy 100 million light years away and I want to know why the hell you are destroying your planet when it is the only place you have to live?”
A search party may or may not be formed to search for the keeper and Phyllis.
