Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper taking morning pleasure in watching the students stride across the parking lot on their way to Memorial High school over across Gammon Road.
Tall, long-legged all with backpacks, the students of all shapes take the keeper back to when his kids were among the first to attend the new Memorial back in the dark ages of the 1960’s.
Now his “kids” are at retirement age, and he himself is so far removed from high school he has to ask Phyllis if she knows where his Barron High School diploma is so he can get it out and look at it to reassure himself that he once was part of that wonderful high school crowd—class of ’49!
“U Rah Rah, Barron Bears!”
