Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper and Phyllis have respective mobs of wonderful, flawless, perfect grandchildren and great grandchildren scattered across the country and currently marching proudly in the back-to-school parade; and they would like them all to know how great it is to see their smiling faces in the photos that moms and dads send along.
As hard as it may be for you to believe, kids, your old grandparents and your moms and dads once experienced the excitement of back-to-school days.
But memories fade, and over the course of lifetimes the “first day” memories get crowded out to make room for memories of graduations, loves, weddings, births, family events, personal accomplishments, deaths and a thousand other things.
So, while this back-to-school parade is a really big deal to you kids as it is happening, there will come a day when you won’t even find its details in your memory bank.
That’s life!
