Kickass and Sunburn Excess

Kickass, the doorstop dog, noted the keeper taking his old skin to the VA dermatologist for its million-mile check up and learning that he continues to luck out from serious youthful abusive sunburns in which his skin peeled off in 8 by 10 sheets and rendered him painfully immobile for several days.

Once when this happened at the end of Army basic training in Alabama and the keeper and his pals headed for the Panama City beach to get beach fried, the Army threatened to court martial anyone who got sunburned to the point they could not report for duty, which the keeper could not do since he could not walk. He was saved by a sympathetic supply sergeant who allowed him to be a supply clerk sitting at a desk until his skin healed enough so he could walk again.

Most everyone in the keeper’s age group—even Phyllis has experienced skin issues and it is important to monitor things on a regular basis to continue to have “skin in the big game.”

Thank you VA skin Doc, you do a great job for someone like the keeper who doesn’t know enough to come in out of the sunshine.
