Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper likes to start the week off on a positive note and passes along the information that on July 21, 2025 both he and Phyllis got up, got dressed, got coffee, got into their recliners and got on the job, that job being to vigorously condemn the usual flow of bad news—weather disasters, war casualties, abject stupidity in high places and a forecast for rain. Then, after moving on to updating and opining on family members’ circumstances they will take up the real crux of their “jobs:” for Phyllis that tends to be “looking ahead,” for the keeper it is more “looking back,” and he will reminisce on how this is the time of year when, during his boyhood, the rural threshing crews dominated like royalty.

May this day of July 21, 2025 find everyone on the “job” of remembering things like those great good-humored men and the cheerful women who fed them and what it feels like to be thrown into a grain bin and buried in freshly threshed oats by the laughing grain sack carriers.
