Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that as the keeper and Phyllis listened to the flood warnings last night on TV they were comfortable, even smug in acknowledging that their 5th floor living quarters protects them from such natural things as floods, burrowing rodents and all but the bravest ants.
Then the flood warnings faded and the TV news shows came back on and that was the end of any 5th floor smugness about being immune to the perils of ground level events: somehow, the news crews reported, we either are or are not at war, having left that momentous choice up to libido driven narcissists with no more compassion or judgement than suicidal lemmings.
The question arises: would the keeper and Phyllis be better served by seeking even higher elevation living area, or would it behoove them to go down to ground level and start digging a burrow?
And if that is the case, how deep should the burrow be and how can it be made flood-proof and resistant to warmongering predators that feed on the disadvantaged while sitting on their golden whoopie cushions?
The keeper invites suggestions as his supply of survival “wisdom” is very obviously running dangerously low.
