Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in cheering on Phyllis’s campaign to walk at least 5000 steps daily, which he does mostly from his recliner.
The keeper would join Phyllis–and actually sometimes does, but for the image it creates of an old man with a walking stick appearing to try to catch a younger woman who may or may not be attempting to escape from his clutches.
Phyllis, with her record of having hiked in every national park in the continental US, is one determined hiker, and the keeper hopes that her current 5,000 step program takes her in a circular route that brings her back to him every day–waiting in his recliner for her to put away her hiking gear and brew up some of her creative soup.
