Kickass and Putting on Shoes

Kickass, the doorstop dog, tries to assist the keeper in his campaign to make it as easy as possible for people of all ages to accept the reality of getting old no matter what their age might be, and to look in unusual corners for the plusses of putting on years.

So, here’s the deal: believe it or not, all of you young whippersnappers, there will come a time in your life when putting your shoes and socks on in the morning will be considered an accomplishment that more or less makes your day, or at least gets it going so you can make it to the coffeepot without getting cold feet.

And do not take drinking your coffee as something to be taken for granted: It is one thing to drink it while standing up, and it is another thing to drink it while sitting in your favorite comfortable chair because there is then the issue of getting up out of the chair–which is another chance to revel in an “accomplishment.”

Later, maybe you can derive pleasure from successfully bending over to pick up the scrap of paper you dropped yesterday.

As a means of impressing her, the keeper might call Phyllis’s attention to such a bending-over accomplishment.  She reacts well to that kind of bravado from him.
