This week, just for fun, I’ve decided to compile a ranked list of what I very subjectively consider to be the best fifty films of all time. After all, everyone likes a list, right? Now, because there’s only room for fifty films and these picks are my personal favorites, I’m sure there will be some feathers ruffled and some eyebrows raised. As a caveat to criticisms, I did not include any monster movies or B-movies (although Them and Attack of the Saucer Men are two of my favorites) nor did I include many indie films (Stranger than Paradise and Blue Velvet also rank high on my list). So some of these might be considered classics, some are modern classics, a couple are brand new, and a few are not really part of the canon.
So agree, disagree, chortle, harrumph, add your own choices, or tell me why Juno should not be here but Metropolis should. I hope you enjoy reading this list as much as I did making it.
