Kickass and Steel Magnolias

Kickass, the doorstop dog, like the keeper, comfortably acknowledges the “steel magnolia” character of women when it comes to running things, certainly the functioning of their own bodies as well as the absurd place of narcissistic males in such matters as reproduction and war. Affirmation came recently when the keeper and Phyllis visited the UW Arboretum where magnolia trees and other species have outdone themselves with explosive blossoming.

The old—1989, movie, starring such powerful “steel magnolias” as Dolly Parton, Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, and Julia Roberts was recalled as the keeper watched Phyllis absorb the breathtaking beauty of the Arboretum show. The big stars have nothing on Phyllis and the millions like her who are incensed by the male ID–Intelligence Disfunction which limits blood flow to their malfunctioning brains.

Phyllis’s history includes a term of employment with Planned Parenthood, and it also has put in place her immovable sense of “steel-magnolia” fairness, which is, of course one of the many things the keeper loves about her.
