Kickass, the doorstop dog, needed no further proof of the “river rat” character of the keeper’s clan than what happened Sunday as he and Phyllis and multiple clan members and friends gathered at several locations along the river to…….
To what?
To eat and drink and tell stories of the recent summer when the boats were still in the water and big fish were being landed.
To talk of the creatures that share the river, the ducks and geese that have transitioned from summer front-yard visitors to prospective occupants of seasonal roasting pans.
It was a magnificent day–sunny and warm with a gentle breeze stirring the colorful leaves.
The keeper paused at one point for a little one-on-one with the river. He expressed appreciation for yet another summer along its sandbars and riverbanks with friends and family, and especially with Phyllis who keeps the keeper in the mode of a very old river rat– “still going with the flow.”
Thanks, Babe!
