Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper offering to advise the POTUS on Canada-US relations, having once a long time ago mounted an invasion of Canada with a force of young family members armed with boundless youthful curiosity and zestful love for life that included all of Canada and the inhabitants therein.
Memories of the family camping vacation have faded but remnants remain to insure that a good time was had by all. Was this the time there was trouble crossing the border because we had the dog along? The keeper can’t sort all the trips out.
The sign in the photo advising “KEEP RIGHT” obviously was not heeded as a lifestyle marker for most of the keeper’s invasion force members later in their lives: with rare exception they grew to “KEEP LEFT” in the mode of genuine concern for others and extending helping hands where needed.
Having grown up in Canada, Phyllis advises that the invasion of her native land as shown in the keeper’s photo is exactly what is needed to counter the ……….
At this point, Phyllis’s talk threatened to turn into shouting and gestures and teeter on the edge of containing bad words, but she pulled herself together enough to help the keeper take the curl out of the old border photo so it could be posted and shared.
It was the kind of thoughtful help the keeper has come to expect in living with a former Canadian.
