Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper and Phyllis temporarily capturing what could be considered a substitute grandchild as measured by the ability to help with tech problems. His name is Colin and he and his employees are actually in the business of rescuing the inept from the tech swamp that now floods the low land, the high land and the mountains where bodies of would-be elderly tech climbers are being found by the thousands, many of them clutching prayer books and hammers.
Colin is contracted to make periodic visits to Vista West where personal appointments can be made. On his recent visit he and tech-savvy Phyllis checked out computers, telephones and TV sets while the keeper sulked in a corner, reluctant to admit that he cannot operate the new coffeemaker and its bean-grinding feature.
In the interest of face saving, the keeper retreated to the bathroom and demonstrated that, so far, he can, by god, flush the toilet.
