Kickass, the doorstop dog, once demonstrated his difficulty in waiting for something to happen, and perhaps his cloddish nature, by walking out of a live performance of “Waiting For Godot” the classic Beckett play in which two guys lounge about under a tree and talk about expecting Godot at any minute.
The details of just why the keeper walked out of the play are lost to time, but the incident comes to mind now as he and Phyllis wait for the big snowstorm which the keeper has named “Godot” which puts him back “Waiting for Godot”, but this time in a recliner with a brandy snifter in hand.
He might talk with Phyllis about when “Godot” is expected and how deep the snow will be. That waiting experience will go down with the keeper as a cultural uplift and yet another reminder that there is rarely anything to be gained by walking out.
