Kickass, the doorstop dog, and Phyllis know that the keeper is easily entertained so it should be no surprise for them to learn that he—the keeper began his daily memory patrol with an image of his gangly old Norwegian grandfather trotting toward the chicken yard with a shotgun in hand as a “chicken” hawk circled the flock of scattered hens and roosters.
Unfortunately, the memory cuts off without resolution of the situation, but in a sense that is good as it will keep the keeper occupied all day wondering if grandpa shot the hawk or simply scared it away with buckshot fired into the air.
Such is the laid back program of entertainment for the keeper on this gray day of April 4, 2024.
