Kickass, the doorstop dog, watched the keeper hang the hummingbird feeder off his and Phyllis’s 5th floor balcony railing and refrained from laughing at such foolish human behavior.
(Dogs can laugh but they do it silently so it doesn’t embarrass their keepers who are forever doing dumb and laughable things.)
While hummingbirds can fly 500 miles across the Gulf of Mexico, it is the keeper’s thinking that they cannot fly as high as the 5th floor at Visita West.
Then again, the hummingbird shunning may be part of the avian embargo that seems to follow the keeper to the extent that he has failed in attempts to pal up with the obviously intellectually superior crows.
Along with the hummingbird feeder, there is a birdbath out on the keeper’s balcony in case a hummingbird feels the need for a bath after their long trip, which would seem logical: Get cleaned up before there is a POTUS executive order to “capture and deport all those dirty little invasive hummingbird immigrants! Send them to Iceland.”
