Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper and Phyllis comfortable with the knowledge that as they slept last night some 301.1 million birds migrated through the night skies on their way to pleasant propagation places.
It is one of Nature’s incredible annual cycles that has no room for some predatory vulture as would destroy the proven migratory directions and steal all the joys and travails that goes with family rearing and the subsequent life-long satisfactions thereof.
In making the point of how unnatural it is for the self-centered enlightened human species to now find itself temporarily in the thrall of a narcissistic oaf who denies basic decency, the keeper suggests that if humans were birds flying through the night they would be in grave danger of fatally crashing into the big expansive windows of greed and ignorance.
The keeper and Phyllis invite their crowd of mature “birds” to watch out for the windows and keep flying in the “migratory” direction that feels Natural.
