Kickass, the doorstop dog, tries to be helpful as the keeper continues to struggle with a double vision condition as a result of his macular degeneration.
In trying to put a positive spin on it, the keeper notes the benefit of seeing two images of Phyllis.
While he had been under the impression that he was most fortunate to have one Phyllis in his life, having two of them is over the top in some respects: how is he to know for example which one to greet with a morning kiss and which one to consult with on political issues?
Does double vision call for “double talk?” If so, the keeper comes well equipped: the VA eye clinic equipped a pair of glasses with prisms that give him single images. Sometimes he wears them and sometimes not, especially if he wants a three way conversation with Phyllis and Phyllis!
