Kickass and Dream Job

Kickass, the doorstop dog, sympathizes with the keeper in his disappointment over missing out on his dream job as advertised by a stable owner in Richford, WI, an area the keeper is very familiar with for its trout fishing and weekend escapades at his former weekend cabin.

The ad specified that the hire’s main function would be cleaning the horse stalls each morning and it required someone who liked and understood horses and who lived near Richford.

That last is the rub, of course, as Phyllis declined to even discuss moving from Madison to Richford, giving no weight whatsoever to the fact that Richford is on the Mecan River, a premier trout stream where the keeper spent many glorious evenings chasing the mayfly hatch and catching big trout.

In a fumbling attempt to replicate some of the aspects of the missed dream job in Richford, the keeper realizes that he already starts the morning dealing with horse**** as the media hands it to him.

And then he looks out and sees the Wisconsin Capital dome way off in the distance and he realizes there are stalls to be cleaned in Madison as more horse**** piles up, some  from the Musk manure spreader.

Dealing with the political horse**** is not his dream job—it is actually a nightmare, but it is something the keeper and Phyllis can work at together.
