Kickass and Wisconsin Dead Friend Zoe

Kickass, the doorstop dog, supports the keeper and Phyllis in their updating of the list of political absurdities that define life as a “Badger.”  Add to the long-standing MINORITY REPRESENTATION in the legislature, the fact that Wisconsin is one of only two states where the tax structure makes it virtually impossible to do meaningful work in the film industry.

As a result, the keeper’s great grandnephew Kyle Hausmann-Stokes who made “My Dead Friend Zoe,” now in theatres, was forced to take his very Wisconsin originated story to Oregon to shoot outdoor scenes, changing the Blue Hills of Barron County into western foothills.

This did not detract from Kyle’s obvious heartfelt allegiance to his Wisconsin story which was very evident at a recent invitation showing sponsored by his parents Elizabeth and Huck at a theatre not far from the Verona High School where Kyle graduated.

“My Dead Friend Zoe” with its underlying message of support of veterans, is a powerful piece of work by a Wisconsin veteran, and it is just too bad that the convoluted Wisconsin political structure couldn’t join the citizenry in celebrating it!
