Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper in appreciating recent research reports having to do with the seemingly limitless communication capabilities of plants, particularly since it could explain the mysterious relationship between the keeper and the frozen geranium out on the keeper and Phyllis’s balcony deck.

*Keeper steps out on the balcony to check the weather. Hears a voice that says, “You SOB!”

*Keeper checks to make sure Phyllis is not out on the balcony with him and then says, “Who said that?”

*Voice says, “I said it, I’m the geranium you so cruelly left out here to freeze all winter with the sparrows.”

*So, you’re a talking plant and you are calling me an SOB!”

*That’s right. I may not be a Christmas poinsettia or an Easter lily but as a common geranium I deserve more respect than to be left out on a damn freezing balcony through the whole of a Wisconsin winter!”

*Getting left out in the cold has been a recent common experience for millions of people and plants. And unfortunately, Phyllis says when your dirt thaws out she will pull you up and throw you away! Do not call her bad names, that is simply the current way of the world.”

            “You SOB!”
