Kickass and Superstition

Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports the keeper rising on this Friday the 13th to the bad luck of not being able to find his glasses.

After he had rubbed the “luck stone” he carries with his lucky Swiss army knife and researched the cushions in his lucky recliner, Phyllis, who shuns superstition as nonsense, suggested to the keeper that he look in the pocket of the shirt he wore yesterday.

Under the impression that he had already looked there, the keeper ignored Phyllis’s unsuperstitious advice until he was in the third cycle of looking in the places he had already looked. This included yesterday’s shirt, and there in a pocket that had been looked at previously were the keeper’s glasses.

The keeper does not walk under ladders, tries not to step on cracks, knocks on wood, avoids black cats and does the salt-over-the-left-shoulder thing, but tries to avoid all such behavior in Phyllis’s presence.

He does, however, ask her often if her nose itches?
