Kickass and Friday

Kickass, the doorstop dog, joins the keeper and Phyllis in noting the differing status of “Friday” through the aging process.

From its glorious identity as the last day of school before an exciting weekend of carefree party and play, to its lifelong signal as the end of the work week and the fun and games of family weekend pleasures, and on to the day to start looking for the kids and grandkids to arrive for a weekend visit, Friday has always claimed a special day-of-the-week importance.

Fast forward–way TOO fast, to when Friday signals just another day of the week when “Independent living” lifestyle means you will not have to go outside–think snowblowers and icy sidewalks, if the weekend weather looks to be ugly: you can stay inside where it is nice and warm and anticipate the evening meal which, of course will be fish.
