Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that in the keeper’s efforts to remain upright, one of the tips from VA physical therapist Daryl was to stand on one leg, which the keeper and Phyllis have been practicing, along with standing up from a seated position without using their arms and leaving their computers at regular intervals to do “leg circles.”
Taken as a package, this has the keeper and Phyllis resembling nothing so much as a pair of sandhill cranes preparing for the great migration, one of them obviously too heavy to fly and the other anxious about a recently replaced joint.
But if standing on one leg promises to help the keeper avoid falling on his face, he doesn’t mind coming off as a crazy yodeling bird with plans for better and warmer days ahead. Neither does Phyllis.
