Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper is reminded by Madison Square Garden recently being in the news, that he was, is and will forever be a hopeless country bumpkin.
The keeper was in New York as part of the Milwaukee Journal reporting team covering the Democrats 1976 convention, and the first morning in town he wandered the interesting streets until it came time to report for duty and then he could not find MSG.
Acting in the best tradition of hicks, the keeper approached a New York cop and said, “Where will I find Madison Square Garden?”
The cop did not immediately respond but focused a puzzled stare at the keeper. The cop then slowly raised one finger and pointed directly overhead at large permanent lettering that said, “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN.” The keeper and the cop were standing in the main entrance, and the keeper will forever remember the look on the cop’s face as the keeper said, “thank you” and went off to do his job as a very temporary big-time reporter.
