Kickass, the doorstop dog, notes that the keeper’s getting-ready-for-winter preparations are particularly challenging in this time of high political drama that reveals how the trickle-down theory of economics is patterned after the dogs’ method of marking territory.
As an early October morning temperature reading dances around 50, the keeper makes the initial moves of switching to long- sleeved shirts, checking the winter wine inventory and transferring his personal identification badge from his summer to his winter hat.
It is the keeper’s feeling that his one-word badge not only serves as appropriate ID but will function as a useful response device until Nov. 5, and, as Phyllis might point out, even long afterwards.
