Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper recognizes the unfortunate evolution of the word “fall” from to “fall” in love, or to “fall” for a fast-talking car sales pitch, to its current age-related dominance as to “fall” on your face or your ass and do physical damage.
Such is life with “fall” at Vista West where the keeper and Phyllis join everyone in their age group in doing their best to remain upright. Under VW procedural rules if you do fall and need help to get back up, you must call 911 and members of the fire department will show up with their big engine and come inside to put you upright without inflicting further damage.
In a recent VW public discussion on this matter, it became apparent that a number of recent female fall victims—Bonnie was one, had been greatly impressed with how young and handsome the firemen were who came to pick them up.
This, of course, gives a new twist to the old ad cliché “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” to become something like “I’ve fallen so please send some handsome young dudes to pick me up.”
The keeper tries to keep his cool in the face of handsome young rescuers invading his VW turf, but he cannot be confident that should Phyllis take an unfortunate fall he would not try to help her back up before the firemen arrive.
