Kickass, the doorstop dog, reports that the keeper agreed with Phyllis that in the interests of remaining as relevant to the flow of life as possible it would be a good idea for him to learn a new game—something called “Mexican Trains” which is played with dominoes and little token balls representing trains.

With the assistance of Vista West neighbors Bill and Mary and Karen and Ion, and Phyllis, of course, a preliminary learning session was set up and produced the following irrefutable results relating to the keeper’s current thinking:

*The learning capacity for new games can peak out at “Old Maids” and Chinese Checkers around Grandma’s table about 100 years ago.

*“Mexican Trains” is the simple game of dominoes ruined.

*Be wary of competitors who bring their own game sets.

*A friendly-appearing competitor will take advantage of a neophyte participant in a mini-second.

*Though decaf coffee may be an appropriate “Mexican Trains” learning drink, brandy should not be excluded.

*There are many ways for someone in the keeper’s age group to demonstrate continued relevance and while boarding a “Mexican Train” was a well-meaning suggestion he will be waiting for something less threatening like advanced recliner operation.
