Kickass, the doorstop dog, notes, along with the keeper and Phyllis, that before this Friday the 13th, 2024 could be trashed by the dominating destructive species, there was a prolonged competition between the crows and the gulls as to just who had parking lot patrolling rights.
In a combination of assertive aerial elegance and flight bluster, there was an apparent standoff, “flyoff?” and nothing in the empty parking lot was found to be worthy of any more valuable Friday the 13th time.
The crows went north, the gulls flew south, and the house finch gang showed up for a quick drink as the trash collector truck clanged its dominance over it all and the “bad luck” reputation of this Friday-the-13th was hauled away like so much garbage.
