Kickass, the doorstop dog, listened, along with Phyllis, to the keeper plead his case as the red lights flashed in his rearview mirror: “We had just come off miles of stop and go beltline traffic, officer, and I was in the process of setting the cruise control for the open highway when here you came from the opposite direction in your little black unmarked vehicle and, well, officer, I am not a speeder but you’ve got me…..”
“Just a warning ticket?
“You are an outstanding example of the highest quality of intelligent law enforcement personnel, officer Kevin, and obviously destined to eventually lead the entire State Patrol.
