Kickass, the doorstop dog, endorses the keeper’s observation that the gathering at the riverside cookout on a recent hot afternoon had a lot to do with Woodington sisters and Stokes brothers with histories dating back to the early days of Madison’s near westside communities. The sisters and brothers knew each other through Orchard Ridge schools and they can endlessly swap stories of their rule-challenging feats.
The river assembly of some of those Orchard Ridge “grads” speaks volumes about the concerns and love sisters and brothers feel for each other and the extent to which they will go to share good things.
It took some doing by a couple of the Stokes brothers—Rick and Mike, to make it possible for Becky’s Woodington sisters to enjoy a temporary river-rat identity and to trade sister/brother memories of the halcyon Orchard Ridge days.
It was a great pleasure for the keeper and Phyllis to be a part of it.
